Dancing with the Piqua Stars returns with a new cast and another exciting competition! A group of well-known community members will test new skills as they dance for charity at Piqua Arts Council’s twelfth year of Dancing with the Piqua Stars. The popular fundraising event is modeled after the long-running television series. Various couples will be selected to compete under the expert direction of Liz Maxson, Tammy Bellamy Chaney, Rick & Judy Bowerman, and more.

Jeremy is a Lieutenant at the Piqua Police Department. Jeremy graduated from Sidney High School, and then went on to graduate from Rhodes State College. He is married to Kat Weber, and together they have two sons. The two also have a 6-year-old golden doodle named Hank. Jeremy enjoys spending time with his family and watching his eldest son in every sport he is in. When he has time, Jeremy loves to run and lift.
Jeremy expresses his reason for participating in the 2022 Dancing with the Piqua Stars, “I was asked for several years, and was supposed to participate the year that COVID hit. We were asked to participate again, and thought it was a good time to.”
Kat is a State of Ohio Parole Officer. She graduated from Carroll High School, and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Master’s Degree in Applied Behavioral Science from Otterbein University and Wright State University. Kat has been married to her husband, Jeremy, for almost 5 years. She enjoys her time as a boy mom to 2 children and 1 golden doodle. Kat also enjoys running.
Kat’s reason for participating in the 2022 Dancing with the Piqua Stars is similar to Jeremy’s. She believes it is important to support her community.
Jim is a Physical Therapist and Center Manager for Novacare Rehabilitation in Piqua and Troy. He graduated from Troy High School in 1999, went on to study as an undergrad at Ohio University, and continued his education at Slippery Rock University, earning his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Jim has been married to his wife, Shellie, for 10 years, and together they have a young daughter and two dogs. In his free time, Jim enjoys CrossFit, dancing and being outside.
Jim’s reason for participating in the 2022 Dancing with the Piqua Stars is similar to Shellie’s.
Shellie is a first-grade teacher at Washington Primary School in Piqua, Ohio. A 2002 graduate of Piqua High School, Shellie went on to earn her teaching degree from the University of Toledo. She and her husband of 10 years, Jim, have a daughter, a 6-year-old English lab, Castle, and an almost one-year-old lab mix, Luna. Shellie enjoys reading, crafting and walking. Together, the family loves to kayak, endure CrossFit, go to random dance parties, and relax in their backyard.
Shellie explains her reason for participating in the 2022 Dancing with the Piqua Stars, “My husband and I love to dance. I danced all through High School while participating in cheerleading, show choir and musicals. I have missed it so much since becoming an adult and was excited for the opportunity to do something I love and have fun with, while giving back to the community that I grew up and currently teach in.”
Fred, a retired pharmacist, spent almost 25 years working at Kroger, managing the Piqua Kroger Pharmacy for many of those years. Fred graduated from Souderton High School in Pennsylvania, and went on to earn his pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He has been married to his wife, Lynn, for 40 years. Together, they have two daughters, both graduates of Piqua High School, Jessica and Sarah, as well as 5 grandchildren. Fred and Lynn have an abundance of pets, including a green iguana which Fred claims to be his, despite his wife insisting it’s hers. Fred enjoys baking high-calorie desserts, as well as running to work off those calories. He is interested in preserving native ecosystems, and is currently involved with reconstructing his yard in native plantings. Fred also adds driving Lynn nuts with fantasy sports to his list of hobbies.
Fred exclaims his reason for participating in the 2022 Dancing with the Piqua Stars, “Lynn told me I had to.”
Lynn is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, and recently retired from a 12-year pastorate at the Nashville United Church of Christ near West Milton, Ohio. Lynn is a graduate of Piqua High School. She earned her degree in Biological Sciences from Bowling Green State University, and then did graduate work in cell biology at the University of Texas Medical Branch and the University of Pennsylvania. While taking time out to be a stay-at-home mom of Jessica and Sarah, Lynn participated in community activities, leading two Girl Scout troops, assisting with the levy campaign to build the junior high school, and co-chairing one of the Piqua Show Choir invitationals. When the girls were older, she earned her Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Lynn and her husband, Fred, own many pets including 2 dogs, 6 tropical birds, a green iguana, and a horse. Lynn adds that other random pets are added without notice. Her hobbies include reading nonfiction, walking daily, and enjoying and conserving nature. She loves to travel, and has traveled abroad to Russia twice, Israel, and the Baltic countries.
Lynn expresses her reason for participating in the 2022 Dancing with the Piqua Stars, “Jordan snookered me in. Still not sure how he did that!”
Craig is the owner of Mullenbrock & Associates of Ameriprise Financial in Piqua, Ohio. He has earned degrees from both Northland College and Michigan Technological University. Craig and his wife, Nancy, have been married since 1978, and together they have two sons. Craig’s hobbies include traveling and exploring fine wine.
Craig is participating in the 2022 Dancing with the Piqua Stars to “…support the Arts in Piqua.”
Nancy has worked at Mullenbrock & associates of Ameriprise Financial in Piqua for a number of years, arranging special events and providing concierge services. Growing up in Chicago, Nancy attended both Catholic and private schools for grammar and high school, graduating high school from The Latin School of Chicago. Afterward, she went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Northland College in Ashland Wisconsin. Nancy and her husband of 43 years, Craig, have two sons, both of whom grew up here in Piqua, one an attendee of Piqua Public Schools and the other an attendee of Piqua Catholic School. Nancy, having lived in Piqua for 40 years, has volunteered for various local organizations including the Piqua Arts Council, the local chapter of the American Red Cross, Johnston Farm and Indian Agency, the Heritage Festival, Piqua Catholic Schools and Piqua City Schools. In her spare time, Nancy enjoys ballroom dancing, birdwatching, hiking, reading, watching hockey and traveling. Nancy explains her reason for participating in the 2022 Dancing with the Piqua Stars, “I believe in supporting the arts in our community.”
Scott is the Director of MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) & Network Sales at Hartzell Propeller. A 2001 graduate of Piqua High School and 2012 Piqua Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee, Scott played football at the University of Dayton, earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology at Bowling Green State University and his Master’s in Business Administration at Bluffton University. Scott has been married to his wife, LeeAnn, for 6 years. Together, they have 3 crazy boys that constantly keep them on their toes. With the help of their board and volunteers, Scott and LeeAnn run the Piqua Youth Football Association. The two enjoy playing, coaching and watching sports, especially their children, as well as spending time with their families and friends.
Scott explains his reason for participating in the 2022 Dancing with the Piqua Stars, “It is always good to step out of your comfort zone sometimes. We enjoy friendly competition, and are always willing to do our part to help out our community. #WeArePIQUA!”
LeeAnn, former Office Manager & Estimator at Piqua Carstar, recently took a new role as Director of Operations with SouthTown Sports & Recreation, a new and upcoming sports facility located in Piqua, Ohio. She graduated from Lehman Catholic High School in 2000, and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Education at Bowling Green State University. LeeAnn and her husband, Scott of 6 years, enjoy watching their three boys play sports, as well as running the Piqua Youth Football Association with the help of their board and volunteers. LeeAnn also enjoys hanging out with new and old friends, exercising, yoga, playing sports and having a good craft beer with her husband, Scott.
LeeAnn exclaims her reason for participating in the 2022 Dancing with the Piqua Stars, “We always want to be involved and give back to the community where we work, live and raise our boys. It’s good to step out of our comfort zone sometimes and this will give us [Scott and I] quality time together.”
