Many art organizations say, ART IS FOR EVERYONE, but don't always focus on delivering that. At Piqua Arts Council, we genuinely believe this and we're working towards creating events that bring the patrons in and let them get hands on - just like Art 4 Everyone.

Tom Lehman will be instructing the drawing station. Tom has been drawing since he was a small child. Never losing his desire to create drawings, he began to truly concentrate on his art after retirement. Tom primarily works in pen and ink, finding interest in old structures such as barns, buildings, farms and objects. The artist describes his work as such: “Saving the past in black and white, and sometimes with a little color.”

Luke Boyd will provide instruction for the culinary arts. The Athens native is a painter, baker and cake decorator. Boyd’s practice is cyclical in nature as his cake decorating informs his paintings and his paintings inform his cake decorating. Relating the temporality and sweetness of baked goods to life, Boyd paints almost entirely from memory as the subject matter is something he has baked, tasted or experienced. 

Piqua's Jimmy Felts will be leading the guitar station. The Piqua musician has been playing guitar since he was 8 years old, starting his own band at just 12 years of age. By the time he was 21, Jimmy became a full-time musician and guitar instructor, and he’s been touring, playing at events & venues and teaching guitar ever since. “At 68 I am still a student of the guitar…” claims Jimmy. “I am blessed to have turned my passion into a career that I have never grown tired of.” 

Yuki Hall will be instructing the watercolor station. After leaving her career as a mechanical engineer in 2006, Yuki started her journey with watercolor painting at a local art center. Since then, she has become an award-winning watercolor artist known for her loose style and impressionistic approach. Her works emphasize simplicity, tonal value patterns, fluidity and confident brush strokes. Yuki is an avid teacher, instructing workshops all around the US and Europe.

Yufeng Wang will be teaching attendees about how to perfect the origami technique. Yufeng is a Chinese brush painter, paper craft artist and professor. As a teenager, her love of traditional Chinese art was inspired by renowned artists Sun Qifeng and Fan Zeng of Tianjin, China. Wang’s artwork desires to create and reflect a sense of peace and harmony in nature and humanity. The artist enjoys sharing Chinese art and paper crafts, as well as hosting workshops.  

Libby Slauenwhite will be instructing the printmaking station.   

Libby is a printmaker and sculptor from Dayton, Ohio. The graduate of Wright State University currently studies at Miami University to earn her MFA. In addition to being a student, Libby teaches undergraduate printmaking and serves as a lab monitor at Miami. Her work is currently on display at the Miami University Art Museum, Hiestand Art Gallery, and Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.
